Making Disciples for Jesus Christ

Other Community Ministries

In addition to serving those in our community who are worried about food (see Community Food Ministries), our Faith Family at the Cressey Road United Methodist Church seeks to serve others in need in our local and regional area.

Prayer Angels

Each day, the Prayer Angels lift up in prayer all those who are in the Cancer Prayer and Support Group, members of our church family, and any others in the community we learn about who may need prayers and support. Our angels pray and -- as God leads them -- send emails or cards of comfort and encouragement. Visits can be made if requested, so that no one has to go through their illness or crisis alone.

Craft Ministry
Formerly our "Knitting and Prayer Shawl Ministry", members of this group gather together in our library on Thursdays at 1:00PM to knit, crochet, sew, or otherwise create crafts which are blessed by the church and given to those in need of support and prayer. Their signature work is providing Prayer Shawls, but many people who have seen tough times have been the recipients of some of the items made with prayer and love. Community members can contact the church if they know of someone in need of such a gift.

Angel Tree Ministry

Our youth group organizes this effort to purchase items to support community families in need during the Christmas season. Paper angels are hung from the tree in the Narthex, with the age and gender of a child, plus their hoped-for present, written on each. Members of the congregation will take an angel and purchase the item requested, bringing it back to the church for distribution.

Angel Tree Concert

We also host an Angel Tree Concert to benefit this program as well, with members of our adult, children's, and handbell choirs, plus our Praise band, FULCRUM, performing an evening concert at the church.
